Top Producing Retirement Advisor List

Approximately one-third of the retirement business was captured by rookies and generalists in the past, but that business has dried up and the majority of new business is emanating from specialists.

A small number of advisors will control the retirement business in the future and while focusing on the top retirement specialists has always been the most effective strategy, the trade has not always allocated their resources effectively.

Providers have been slow to react to changing conditions, but generalists are already being squeezed. Like generalists, providers that don't identify, target and channel meaningful resources to the consolidating elite will be marginalized in the retirement plans market.

Like retirement advisors, providers must define and communicate their value-added support to non-registered independents, regional broker-dealers and the major wirehouses. More importantly, providers must develop new relationships with specialized broker-dealers and the increasing number of advisors converting to the RIA model.

Retirement advisors have been the CFDD's natural market for over a decade and we maintain a proprietary list of almost two thousand top-producing retirement specialists. The CFDD is the only credible source of this list and in addition to full contact information, the list is provided in Word and sortable Excel formats.

Advisor turnover is excessive right now and many are in transition. Some are converting to the fee-based model, but others are moving to specialized b-ds, joining established RIA shops and setting up their own independent firms.

The list is updated on an ongoing basis via semi-annual mailings, network interface, conference attendance and random phone calls. The CFDD has recently invested over 1,000 hours to update the list and rather than invest the resources to develop their own list, providers may purchase, not rent, the list for a one time fee of $10,000.

The CFDD's retirement advisor list is dynamic and the CFDD also offers an annual maintenance service. Clients that purchased the list in the past may acquire the annual update for only $2,500.

Given the pressure on margins, the importance of utilizing marketing resources effectively has never been greater. Providers must constantly expand their universe of producers and identifying the top retirement advisors for little more than $1 per advisor obviously meets that need. Indeed, "one" new relationship is worth more than the cost of the list.
